Our Research Center

The Al Batran Laboratory is located within the "Faculté de Pharmacie de l'université de Montréal" in the room # 3168

Our brand-new laboratory features many state-of-the-art equipment and technology which we use to study obesity and energy metabolism. Our team consist of postdocs and graduate students who perform many experiments routinely with precision and accuracy. Here are some of techniques that we use in the lab.

  • Generating tissue specific knockout mice

  • Employing different dietary to induce insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes

  • Utilizing in vivo isotopic tracing to assess metabolic fluxes

  • Evaluating in vivo energy metabolism and energy expenditure using metabolic chamber

  • Assessing glucose homeostasis via glucose and insulin tolerance testing (GTTs/ITTs)

  • Measuring exercise performance in mice using voluntary wheel running and forced exercise treadmill

All of the previously stated experiments can be performed at our laboratory.
